Keith Albert Hancox MBE
10 July 1940 - 19 March 2014

It is with very great sadness that we have to announce the death of
Keith Hancox who died on Wednesday 19th March at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
Thankfully, his family were with him at the time.

This news came as a shock to those of us who were aware of the surgery that he underwent on Monday 17th March. We were so hopeful of a satisfactory outcome.

Keith was (very difficult to write that word) a dear friend to many of us and above all the husband of Jackie and father to Michael and Claire.

I am sure that in the days and weeks to come there will be many deserved tributes paid to Keith.
For myself I will just list a few adjectives which come instantly to mind when I think of Keith -

Courageous, humorous, gentle and indomitable.

To say that our thoughts are with Jackie and hers and Keith's family doesn't say the half of it.

The funeral will be held at the Sandwell Valley  Crematorium,
Newton Road, Great Barr, B71 3SX on Thursday 10th April at 2.30pm and  afterwards at the Great Barr Hotel, Pear Tree Drive, Newton Road, B43 6HS
Family flowers only please – donations welcome for the RNIB Talking Book Service or the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas.
This will be a celebration of a life lived to the full and black need not be worn unless you wish to do so.
Keith's funeral was held on 10th April at Sandwell Valley
Crematorium and his life celebtated by family and many friends afterwards at the
Great Barr Hotel.

Keith's Funeral

Keith's funeral was held on 10th April at Sandwell Valley Crematorium and his life celebtated by family and many friends afterwards at the Great Barr Hotel.

The Rev. Peter Little eloquently summed up all our feelings when he said that Keith had been taken from us too quickly, at a time when we were all braced to welcome him home from hospital on a journey of recovery.

That wasn't to be. The next best thing that we could do was to celebrate his life in a way that reflected the fine manner in which it had been lived and the impression that he has left on all our lives.

Thanks to Keith's family we were able to do that with great satisfaction.
We shared many reminisences, there were a few tears shed but most of all there was laughter. That would have given Keith the greatest pleasure.

The pain of loss cannot be taken away, especially for Jackie, Michael, Claire and their families but it may have been assuaged a little during the few hours of the celebration of Keith's life.

They also know that they will continue to be in our thoughts and help is at hand if needed.
