Alfred John Deeming
It is with a great sense of loss that we announce the death of
'John' Deeming, one of our stalwart Church members.
John died in City Hospital, Birmingham on Tuesday 10th September after a relatively short illness. He was 87 years of age and in the last few years had become noticeably frailer. He was cared for by his family and in particular by his son Paul who, as a result, has become well known to us.
His funeral is to be held at South Aston United Reformed Church on Monday 30th September at 12.45pm then afterwards at Witton Cemetery.
John was a caring man who made a difference for the better wherever that was possible.
He was a founder member of the Lunch Club where his helpful approach was put to great use. He will most certainly be missed by his friends there especially by Dave and Rose.
I sat next to him in Church, on most occasions, over many years and was struck by his sincere commitment to following the teachings of Jesus.
In that regard he should be an example to all of us.
Nowhere was that better expressed than in the way he said 'The Lord's Prayer'. On every single occasion each word was expressed with the deepest sincerety and with a palpable sense of commitment.
Thank you for your example John. Rest in peace.
