Around two hundred and fifty people came to South Aston United Reformed Church on Thursday 8th June to pay respect and to celebrate the life of Anne Baker, wife of our minister the Reverend Peter Little.
The service, led by Peter's friend the Rev. Bill Bowman, was multi faceted, reflecting the many aspects of Anne's life.
There were contributions from Anne's sister Jean Watson, a very warm and moving tribute, read by Rev. Bowman, from Anne's friend Jean Appleyard and a 'Circle Dance' performed by members of the dance group Anne belonged to.
But the most poignant contribution of all was made by Peter himself. In a quiet, measured and commendably assured way, Peter told us what Anne had and will continue to mean to him. Strength, compassion, reliability and calmness were just a few of the adjectives which were used, not only by Peter but by others who spoke of the Anne that they knew and loved.
It was a service of respect, remembrance and celebration that will stay in our thoughts for some time to come.
