Edith Eggison
2nd March 1921 - 21st October 2013

It was with a great sense of loss that we announced the death of Edith Eggison, our second eldest Church member.
Edith died on Monday evening, 21st October in Heartlands Hospital, Birmingham after a short confinement to monitor her failing health. She was made very comfortable during her stay and received many visitors.

Never has the description "She was a lovely lady" been more apt. Edith was lovely of appearance, lovely of speech, lovely of thought and lovely of action. Her gentle and genteel concern and involvement in the work of the Church will be very much missed.

Edith indicated that if anyone wished to make a donation then any monies so given would be distributed between 'The Air Ambulance Service' and 'The Birmingham Royal Institute for the Blind'.
Update - As a result of generous donations made, cheques to the value of £179 were presented to both the Air Ambulance Service and the BRIB.

Edith's funeral

Edith's funeral service was held at the Church and then at Yardley Crematorium on Thursday 7th November.
Funerals are inevitably sad occasions because we are saying our last farewells to a loved one. But they are often opportunities to celebrate a life well lived, by those whose own lives have been touched by the one that has died.
That certainly was the case with Edith's funeral. If it is possible to say that a funeral was 'good' then Edith's funeral was a good one.
Thank you to all those who made a contribution, including all those who came to the service. Edith would have been so touched. What a fitting end to a life well lived.
