History Group visit to Soho House
2.00 pm. Tuesday 21st October 2014
About 20 of us went on a conducted tour of Soho House organised by Dave Kendrick.
It was truly a step back in time to when Birmingham's proud industrial heritage was being forged (no pun intended!) by such great men as Matthew Boulton.
The tour was conducted by a young lady, Katrine Seyler, from Bavaria, a former student at Birmingham University. She was excellent and was able to convey and illuminate the fascinating story of Matthew, his family and his associates.
She was helped in this by the rich store of artefacts, from the period, which are on display in each of the rooms of Soho House.
After the tour a number of in our party asked David if he could organise a repeat tour sometime in the future, so impressed were they with this one.
Highly recommended.
As Nick said " Soho House should be designated a 'World Heritage Site' so important it was to the development of mankind's ability to mass produce both useful and distracting artefacts."
