On Wednesday March 20th, the Wednesday Welcome members were treated to a short concert by THE CORYDON PLAYERS, a Birmingham-based Recorder Ensemble.
The group was set up over 40 years ago by Paul Clark, an eminent recorder player and composer, who wanted a concert group to represent the Birmingham Branch of the Society of Recorder Players. The dozen original members auditioned for their place.
The current group comprises 5 people: Stephen, Michele, Jane, Annette and Ann who meet most Wednesday mornings to play through their huge repertoire of music ranging from the Renaissance period through to the 21st century. Between them, they play 8 different sized Recorders.
They perform publicly whenever the opportunity arises and their diaries permit.
