Reports on Macmillan Coffee Morning and Harvest Week-End, September 2019

Macmillan Coffee Morning
Friday 27th September dawned very wet, grey and miserable and that was pretty much it for the rest of the day. Obviously it will have kept some people away which was a shame because we had a very good day.
Apart from the usual display of cakes, scones, bread pudding etc, etc we had stalls offering a selection of jigsaws, jewellery & scarves, household items and a huge amount of good quality baby clothes. We also had a competition - 'Guess how Many Berries in the Pie' and a raffle with refreshments supplied by our volunteers in the kitchen.
Customers came and went throughout the three hours and amongst them we were very pleased to welcome leaders from our newly formed BB Company and several Housing Officers from Barry Jackson Tower who purchased a large piece of gooey carrot cake to take back with them !!
On the day we raised over £535 from sales and donations. The final sum sent to Macmillan was £613. This is a wonderful result and as we hold the event in memory of our friend Anne Baker we are absolutely delighted.
THANK YOU to everyone for your support and generosity !!

Fish & Chip Supper
About 28 hungry people gathered for the Fish & Chip Supper and a good time was had by all. After the main meal there was lots of cake to follow before the Quiz which, once again, provided plenty of entertainment. Those good at geography excelled at the Flags of Europe whilst others were better at the Music by Numbers round, or Four Items in a Sock. There was something for everyone and it was great fun - many thanks to Ann for organising a very good evening.

Harvest Festival
At our Harvest Worship next day we had gifts of fresh foods and also tins and packets, the latter going to Aston & Nechells Food Bank with the fresh food being distributed to local people.  As always, the church looked very colourful and attractive and there was an opportunity to make a donation to Commitment for Life as well.
