The much anticipated opening of the Church's new venture, the 'Aston 4All' Café, opened officially at 11.00am today. 19th May 2015.
It was just like the proverbial swan, all the casual observer saw was this beautiful creation gliding effortlessly into the water on the day of its launch.
But those who had expended many long and sometimes arduous hours, during the gestation period, were aware of the metaphorical webed feet working furiously beneath the water.
In his opening address the Reverend Peter Little gave due credit to all those involved, especially Dave Kendrick whose original idea it was and Lynn Purchase, the Church Centre Coordinator who did most of the 'spade work'.
He then introduced Alia, the Cafe's Development Officer and Hilary the Cook. He wished them and the new venture well and hoped that it would prove to be a great asset to the community of South Aston.
Peter asked Brenda Davies, South Aston's Work with the Elderly executive, to cut the splendid cake that had been specially made for the occasion.
